Website Design Services

Delivering optimised websites for housing associations and their subsidiaries has been one of Prodo's specialisms for over 20 years. Whether you need a fast-to-launch website replacement or a fully custom solution designed around your needs we've got you covered.

Discovery

The first step in delivering a new website encompasses:

  • We give you a warm Prodo welcome and introduce you to our team of in-house experts
  • We'll host a collaborative requirements exploration process where we'll confirm the project deliverables and tease out potential future enhancements
  • Our team go away to translate the agreed requirements into user stories with success criteria
  • And produce a technical specification document paired with a project management plan for you to review and approve

Design

Next up comes the creation of the look & feel of your new website. Depending upon if you've chosen a custom design or a fast-to-launch website, we'll either begin applying your brand guidelines to an established design of your choosing or follow this process for a bespoke implementation:

  • Assess your key user goals and audience types
  • Consult with you on the sitemap and information architecture
  • Optional wireframing to nail the structure pre-aesthetic-design application
  • Take opportunities with brand exploration 
  • Bring this all together with mobile and desktop custom designs for feedback and amends in a collaborative process with you

Development

By this stage, we'll have the agreed specification and designs in place and proceed with bringing the website to life:

  • Umbraco CMS setup and configuration
  • Backend development to create the modules and required functionality
  • Frontend development to apply the design, look & feel and interactions throughout the website
  • Incorporate any required plugins or system integrations 

Testing

Before we get to a point of sharing the platform with you, we take the solution through a rigorous quality assurance programme to ensure we're delivering against the high standards we set ourselves:

  • Manual user story success criteria testing in the CMS and on the frontend
  • Automated code quality checks with Sonar Cloud
  • Accessibility testing with Pa11y
  • Once we have approved the platform internally, we'll deploy the code to a staging environment ready for client UAT

Pre-Live

This is your chance to check the website provided to you against the prior agreed specification and designs on the staging environment before we plan to launch:

  • CMS training session, building your familiarity and capability within the Umbraco CMS
  • Client User Acceptance Testing (UAT), if you spot any items which require a review, you'll have your own Jira portal to raise tickets for our assessment and remedy
  • Content population is usually a joint effort where we both add your pre-prepared copy and media into the new modules ready for launch

Launch

By this point we're all happy that as a team we've hit the mark when considering the goal and initial requirements of the project!

  • We'll go through some final pre-live checks around SEO and Google Analytics and begin deploying the code to the live server
  • Working with your IT team, we'll provide the relevant information for the DNS change to point your domain name at the server where the new website resides
  • And we're done! A virtual 'cheers' before moving into your warranty phase
