Tradewinds’ main area of activity is achieving excellent editorial coverage in a range of new, electronic and print media relevant to the client's business, its products and its customers.

We are not of the opinion that all publicity is good publicity; our media activity is planned and controlled to ensure serious positive results.

Tradewinds’ Managing Partner Sally Smith has outstanding experience.

As a journalist, she has worked in fashion and beauty for Harpers Queen Magazine (now Harpers Bazaar); was a sub-editor on Woman; Business Editor on the Daily Echo; worked as a news journalist on the Daily Mail; Sunday Express; the Daily Telegraph and as a sub editor for BBC news in the UK; worked as a news journalist for the Daily Press and ABC TV news in Australia.

She has had books published by Rigby Books and Michael Joseph; was Small Business Writer of the Year; has been awarded a Winston Churchill Fellowship.

Her creative and writing skills together with her journalistic experience provide an ideal base for modern media based public relations.

Tradewinds' extensive experience ensures that the very best media can be identified and properly targeted; international, national, regional and yes even local – local media can sometimes bring extraordinarily successful results for specific objectives.

Tradewinds works hard to ensure no opportunities are missed; whether through international and national news wires, radio and television, newspapers and magazines, trade publications; small independent radio and television channels; e-newsletters, local weekly newspapers or any of the other myriad vehicles that make up today’s modern media.

Tradewinds is led by managing partner Sally Smith who is involved in every client of Tradewinds. Work is never left totally to junior or inexperienced staff.

It is not easy to create something that will be taken up and spread like wild fiire across the internet - and the results aren't always ideal for companies or their specific products. However, when it is appropriate and when it works - what a result!

We are not internet marketeers but we can provide exceptional creative ideas that can take off both in younger and increasingly more mature network groups.

Tradewinds was first set up in the 1990s and took off fast, with major clients coming on board for full public relations contracts.  Along with tourism, lawyers and builders, one of the company’s biggest clients was McDonald’s. Creating stories and news items about all the positives of the individual franchises ensured a booming business in many small towns in several countries.

We had the greatest endorsement from the Vice-President of McDonald’s at the time…

“I was struck by your enthusiasm, creativity and grasp of the business..I walked away convinced that McDonald’s is receiving some of the strongest public relations counsel possible”

R G Starmann

Senior Vice President, McDonald’s

When Tradewinds moved to Somerset, it also took on a number of local clients, from individual tourist and other businesses and charities to established local manufacturers who already had an international reputation but still wanted to grow.

We are not promising the world

Right now we are concentrating on easy wins, specialising in:

Media

Online, print, local or everywhere. We identify the very best target audience with real potential for your business and then create sound stories and enticing messages to reach them and get them onboard.

Blogs, social media platforms

Unique regular content including generic comments and quirky facts related to your business that attract and keep new followers.

Plus we can often add small specifics that might help lift you above your competitors and really make a difference to your overall reputation and business.

At Tradewinds we have a history of exceeding all expectations. We offer top expertise at local prices – and we don’t talk jargon.
