What’s unique about my business? That’s a question business owners’ ask themselves regularly and get asked a lot by their coaches. It is a very difficult question to answer. It’s one that we come back to ourselves as our own marketing agency evolves. The search for the elusive Unique Selling Proposition (USP)!
We’ve heard the USP also referred to as a Category of One. This is an exercise that aims to get to the same place as a USP. It involves an analysis of a business to identify any area of its activity, that is relevant and important to customers, where it can say only it has that particular valued attribute.
Our experience of working with clients has shown us that it is much easier to undertake this work in someone else’s business than in your own!
We are experienced marketers who have worked in demanding environments where the quality threshold has been high. That’s hardly unique, but also suggests we have have never made a mistake, which is, of course, ludicrous!
