Our clients benefit from a traditional, friendly, courteous and creative approach. We give commitment that goes way beyond the call of duty: we employ a firm policy of honouring budgets and meeting deadlines. Platform One is a small Creative Design agency, established in 1969 and based in Monmouth, South Wales. David founded the business in 1969 and is the senior partner at Platform One. He trained in Graphic Design at Newport College of Art & Design in the Sixties. Sherren is a graphic designer and partner in Platform One. She joined the practice in 1997 and quickly made herself irreplaceable, earning her a partnership in 2001.
We love design: for us it’s more than a job, it's who we are. Away from the studio we absorb ourselves in theatre, exhibitions, literature, music and our national heritage. We believe that the benefits gained are reflected in everything we do in our work.
We have long-standing clients who keep coming back to us with new projects, as well as one-off commissions. Brochure design, branding and corporate identity is the heart of what we do at Platform One.
They say that they return because of the great service we provide (see our testimonials), right from the initial brief to delivery. The Sixties generated optimism and belief in a bright new future. 1969 was a year full of exceptional events:
• Man walked on the Moon
• The voting age in UK was lowered to 18
• Concorde launched a new era in flight
• The début of Monty Python’s Flying Circus heralded a new comedy culture
• The US army began development of the Internet
• Platform One was established.
Over the last five decades:
Concorde has been decommissioned, Monty Python members have carved out individual careers and come together again for a last hurrah, and the Internet has revolutionised communications and the way we now do business. Meanwhile, Platform One continues to solve problems, supply a creative service and meet the challenges of an ever-changing marketplace.
Our journey started as HEAD (Hughes & Evans Art and Design) in Bristol before moving to Chepstow. Geoff Hughes left the partnership to study Product Design at University and David Evans continued practising as David Evans Design Associates, with a team of three.
We remained in Chepstow for 15 years, before moving into offices above Platform 1 at Abergavenny Railway Station, where it seemed appropriate to rebrand ourselves. Our stay was short and after two years, we moved into offices in Cwmbran.
In 1996 we took the decision to move to our home town of Monmouth, confident that with the growing technology we could offer our clients the same attention to detail they had grown to rely on. Sherren McCabe-Finlayson joined the team in 1997 and became a partner in 2001.
We are a small team who thrive on the different challenges thrown our way.
