Hello, I'm Pete Winter a Creative Full Stack Web Developer based in North London with a real passion for the web. I thoroughly enjoy designing, developing and maintaining websites. Designing for print and designing for the web is like being a double agent. You almost need to have two completely different design personalities, because what works on paper can look terrible on the web, and what works on line doesn’t always work on paper. Therefore I believe, with my broad knowledge and experience since 1996, I can offer the perfect all-round solution for your business. My design principle is: Get rid of the clutter! Clean design helps prevent the problem of dazzling people with images that they find distracting from what is being presented. Instead of overwhelming the vision, my focus is on a single, powerful graphic that draws the eyes to the main message you’re trying to get across. I know that good designs must not only communicate brand and marketing messages but also visually ensure that all small details combine cohesively to communicate the bigger picture. The right website design can only be achieved by working with you, the client, to get a detailed understanding of the design requirements. I believe in delivering the most appropriate web solutions to clients; biggest is not always best. What is covered by the term ‘web development’ therefore varies depending on the needs of the project, but it is at this stage that clients begin to interact with their solution for the first time. There are a number of decisions that shape the complexity and time of the web development phase. And the right solution can only be created and developed by communicating and working with you to understand your specific objectives. Normally this results in the creation of a Graphical User Interface (GUI) built using the most suited platform. If a website is powered by a database-driven system, the deliverable may take the form of templates that can be integrated with a back-end system — either in-house or external. Whatever the ultimate end solution, my code is always well-structured and easy for a technical development team to work with. I am happy creating a GUI from the given designs, or to implement the templates on a third-party software platform.A website does not exist in isolation, I believe, and therefore I always consider how it sits with other pieces of company’s communication such as printed or other digital media. My website design is focussed on reflecting your company’s personality and future goals. After our initial conversations, I explore a number of visual routes using all modes of creativity gained through my extensive experiences in designing websites. If required or helpful for the project, I run controlled pilots and gather feedback. With the client’s input, a preferred concept is developed and applied to all key page templates to create a full-scale website mock up , which is then presented to the client for final approval. This iterative and visual way of working, along with a functional specification and wireframe sitemap, removes the mystery from the process, with the client fully aware of what the finished website will look like. This whole process allows us to achieve our ultimate goal – a website design that the client likes and is the right one for the business. All my websites are designed with an inherent understanding of brand communication, information architecture, accessibility and usability. I have found that for me personally, with my web development work, that the majority of my clients and enquiries come from locals in Enfield, London, or surrounding counties like Hertfordshire and Essex. Often it happens that I might have actually never met some of my clients in person, despite the fact that they may work only a few miles away. I think they feel more comfortable in the fact that if they need to meet to discuss in greater detail they can, or if there are any issues that need resolving I'm nearby and ready and willing to meet with them.
